Marcia Taylor | Marcia Taylor, Director of USF International Services, was named the Chair & Florida State Representative to the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Region VII. The Florida Association of International Educators (FAIE) is an organization whose efforts are aimed at promoting international education exchange in the state of Florida.

The USF Confucius Institute Turns 1!
February 27 – 28, 2009 marked the one year anniversary of the USF Confucius Institute. Special events commemorating the anniversary included; a lecture by Dr. Martin Schönfeld, an evening of performances, a passport renewal service for Chinese students and community members, and a food festival.

The 13th annual Jewish Film Festival brought the film Noodle to USF. Noodle is a touching comic-drama that looks at life and cross cultural interactions in Israel. It throws a warm light over life in Israel outside the political arena.

USF Faculty See Fulbright in Their Future

Dean María Crummett & Debra Egan | On March 10, 2009, Debra Egan, Assistant Director, Fulbright Scholar Program, Council of International Exchange of Scholars in Washington, D.C. held two information sessions for USF faculty, department chairs and deans interested in applying for a Fulbright or learning how to support faculty applying for a Fulbright. Over 30 USF faculty attended the first session and learned about the different Fulbright programs and how to put together a competitive application.

Sarah Namulondo | Sarah Namulondo came to USF from Kampala, Uganda as a Fulbright student in 2004. Sarah is a Ph.D. student in English with a concentration in 19th century British and American literature. Her dissertation is on contemporary African women writers. After submitting her application with the Fulbright program in Uganda, Sarah was offered the opportunity to come to USF.
