Technology Advances Improve Service
During 2007 Hartford Bond made a significant investment of time and resources into our 1StepSurety technology infrastructure in order to support paperless workflows based on a department-wide electronic file. The Hartford Bond operation supports a three tiered delivery model from which our agency partners can choose: work with one of our 25 regional offices for higher limit business, utilize our Bond Center in Orlando for lower limit flow business or execute and book bonds directly using 1StepSurety. As this three tiered delivery model matured, the need for us to enhance our work tools so that we could more seamlessly share tasks and information, particularly between the regional offices and the Bond Center, became apparent. Also, because our mission is to provide best in class service to our agency partners, we needed to provide Bond underwriting and service staff with new tools that would allow them to expedite turnaround times across all of our primary workflows. It is for these reasons that we decided to take a long term approach to the development of our new toolset, one that went beyond simply supporting imaged documents in isolation. Therefore, our new EDM (Electronic Document Mangement) infrastructure and electronic file was built around redesigned field and home office workflows that are integrated with 1StepSurety booking, underwriting and claim information.

We completed deployment of the new workflows and toolset in August. The new toolset allows Bond staff in any location to access one central electronic file that contains underwriting, booking and claim information as well as electronically filed documents and underwriter notes. 1StepSurety EDM also provides easy access to various logs, reports and internal and external information sources. With this infrastructure, our staff is now positioned to access and share information much more efficiently, which will benefit our agency partners and customers.

Hartford Bond appreciates your support during this transition and we fully expect that after a short period of time you will see a positive impact with respect to our service capabilities. You can, in turn, help Hartford Bond provide better service by sending documents to us by fax or e-mail whenever possible. We are excited about our new service capabilities and look forward to your continued support and partnership. If you have any questions regarding this transition please feel free to contact Scott Sadowsky at 860-547-8743.
