Spotlight On Traffic and Freescale Award Finalists
Registration closes Tuesday at noon, register NOW for the Greater Austin Business Awards.

This week features the finalists for the 2008 Greater Austin Business Awards categories of Take On Traffic and the Freescale not-for-profit Award. Judges were challenged to choose winners in small, medium, large and not-forprofit business sizes from among the best Austin has to offer in the categories of Innovation, Customer Service, Education, Community Relations, Take On Traffic and Environment. The Freescale not-for-profit winner will recieve a check for $5,000. Click full story to see a complete list of the finalists.

Winners will be announced at the award ceremony on Wednesday, August 27, 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hilton Austin, 500 East Fourth Street. Register now!

Grow Your Business through Referrals
The Chamber is gearing up to begin another round of the popular Business by Referrals series starting September 10. This group meets every other Wednesday over lunch for 3 months (6 sessions total) in the Chamber boardroom, and it incorporates educational tools to help professionals meet their sales goals. Space is limited to 5 companies per industry and 1 representative per company. This series always sells out and we will stop taking registrations after the first 60 attendees. Register Now!
 
Calling All Small Business Volunteers
Do you want to have a voice in the small business programs facilitated by the Austin Chamber of Commerce? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you. We are forming a new Small Business Council that will help provide the Chamber with an objective viewpoint on what programs would benefit our members with 50 employess or less. This council will meet quarterly and report to the Small Business Task Force with their findings. Central Austin will come to life over Labor Day weekend as numerous events attract people to the area. City officials have initiated several programs to address traffic and crowd concerns, as these events will have sizeable attendance.
