Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke to Keynote Economic Forecast Dec 1

SAVE THE DATE!
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke will keynote the Austin Chamber's Annual Economic Forecast on December 1 at 12:30 p.m. at the Hilton Austin this year. In 2008, the national economy has been a major topic for the business community. Texas has faired better than most states, being named the least distressed state in a report by the Center on Budget and Public Policy based on employment declines, increases in housing foreclosures, and increases in poverty.

Dr. Bernanke was sworn in on February 1, 2006, as Chairman and a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Dr. Bernanke also serves as Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee, the System's principal monetary policymaking body. He was appointed as a member of the Board to a full 14-year term, which expires January 31, 2020, and to a four-year term as Chairman, which expires January 31, 2010.
