CenTex RCIC To Discuss Texas ETF At Second Annual OneMedPlace Conference
The Central Texas Regional Center for Innovation and Commercialization (CenTex RCIC) announced plans to discuss the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (ETF), the most active early-stage, government-backed investment fund in the country, at the 2nd Annual OneMedPlace finance conference, OneMedForum in San Francisco. A panel discussion led by the CenTex RCIC will present at a luncheon January 13 and discuss the fund’s innovative approach to investing in emerging companies. Topics include:
  • The appropriate role of the government in assisting emerging companies and the broader implications on private sector venture capital.
  • The long-term development of companies that accept government-backed investments.
  • How other forms of government, both state and federal, can emulate this model and experience similar success.
Presenters will include Susan Davenport, VP Business Retention and Expansion for the Austin Chamber of Commerce and Program Manager, CenTex RCIC; Andrew Nat, Executive Director, TX Life Science CIC; Timothy Sullivan, President and CEO, Mystic Pharmaceuticals; and Philip Ralston, CEO, MacuCLEAR Inc.

“We look forward to educating healthcare and life science executives and investors form around the world about the Texas Emerging Technology Fund and the opportunities it has created for Austin and central Texas companies,” said Davenport at the Austin Chamber of Commerce.

The panel discussion “Government as Venture Capitalist: A Look at the Texas Experience” will take place at the OneMedForum in San Francisco, Calif. on Tuesday, January 13 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, Union Square.
