Clean Business Is Good Business – The Business Case Against Corruption

The International Chamber of Commerce, Transparency International, the United Nations Global Compact and the World Economic Forum Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI) are delighted to announce their first joint publication entitled “Clean Business Is Good Business – The Business Case Against Corruption”.

“Clean Business Is Good Business” is a three page brochure that outlines why companies and corporate practitioners should actively engage in the fight against corruption. The document offers a short summary of key arguments and information, including: facts and figures on the issue; background on international law; overview of countries and industries most prone to the issue; the business rationale for addressing corruption and what companies can do; and a brief overview of the four major global anti-corruption initiatives.

Fighting Corruption through Collective Action – A Guide for Business

"Fighting Corruption through Collective Action – A Guide for Business" was launched in June 2008 by the World Bank Institute and a consortium of leading NGOs, multilateral organizations and private sector partners. This new guide outlines multiple options for combating market corruption based on proven “how-to” examples from many regions and sectors. Cases from a diverse group of countries, including Mexico, Germany and Pakistan, are detailed in the guide, as well as a range of tools, such as decision trees and process steps, that help users to tailor collective action frameworks to their specific circumstances and needs.

Business Principles for Countering Bribery: SME Edition

Transparency International (TI) introduced the Business Principles for Countering Bribery in 2002, primarily for large companies. Since then, the Business Principles have become recognized as a leading anti-bribery standard and a model for anti-bribery programmes. An edition of the Business Principles more relevant to small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) has now been developed, together with guidelines which give practical advice to those organizations with limited resources of time, money and people, helping them through the process of developing an anti-bribery strategy to suit their size and structure.

Business Fighting Corruption: Experiences from Africa

"Business Fighting Corruption: Experiences from Africa" is a collection of case studies showcasing how organizations and businesses active in Africa are addressing the challenge of corruption. The cases are based on the experiences of the Ethics Institute South Africa in collaborating with these organizations towards the establishment of an ethical organizational culture. In addition, two country case studies describe how government, civil society and the private sector in Malawi and South Africa have been working hand in hand in their efforts to fight corruption.

The book further features three short articles presenting existing concepts and frameworks with regard to corruption, with a special focus on Africa.

The publication is produced by the Global Compact Regional Learning Forum for sub-Saharan Africa, and funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with further support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH.
