Go Local: Support your downtown
A Go Local campaign is currently underway, which includes a passport for free merchandise and discounts from 37 downtown Tacoma merchants. This campaign is running from now until Oct. 18.
A prize patrol will also stroll through Tacoma every Thursday to award those creatively wearing a designed emblem, which is available as a cut-out in the passport. E-mail prizepatrol@gurustacoma.com and let them know where to look for you.
In addition, those who get their passport stamped by all participating merchants will turn in their passports during a final celebration for an opportunity to win a grand prize. More information on the celebration and the grand prize will be available in the coming months.
Pick up your passport at the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, and participating downtown businesses. For more information and a full listing of participants, visit the Go Local campaign Web site.

City hosts surviving construction workshop
As Tacoma’s rapid redevelopment continues, so does the number of construction projects occurring in our city. Thus, the City of Tacoma is convening a special workshop for Tacoma businesses on how to survive construction from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 6 at the William H. Factory Small Business Incubator.
This session will consist of a panel of speakers including business and marketing professors from our local colleges and the Small Business Incubator, a small business consultant and business owners who have survived construction themselves.
Those interested in attending are asked to complete a brief survey, located at www.cityoftacoma.org/dstreet, so that the session can be better customized to suit attendees’ needs.
RSVP for this event today by contacting Roxanne Murphy at roxanne.murphy@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 591-2054.
