Governor Chris Gregoire launches Container Ports Initiative
Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire visited the Port of Tacoma yesterday to unveil her Container Ports Initiative, a plan to improve the movement of products to markets and workers to jobs.

"The Next Washington is a strategy that challenges Washingtonians to invest in changes we can count on," said Gregoire. "Part of this vision is to make critical investments in our infrastructure so that goods can be delivered to their markets in a timely fashion. The ports of Seattle and Tacoma serve as vital international gateways for the import and export of goods and provide a critical foundation for our state's trade economy, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs statewide."

For more information, go to the Port of Tacoma news release.

Tacoma Power pilots pay-as-you-go option
Tacoma Power’s key investment in a fiber-optic network has provided the technology needed for the utility to install high-tech power meters at its customers’ homes, and they’re now piloting a pay-as-you-go program.

The pay-as-you-go method allows customers to:
• Buy electricity in any amount
• Buy electricity as it fits the customer’s schedule
• Convert outstanding electricity bill to a zero-interest installment plan
• Check electricity use anytime
• Reduce electricity use and cost

A limited number of residential customers will participate in the pilot program. For more information, call (253) 502-8400 or e-mail PayGo@cityoftacoma.org.
