We’d like to extend a gracious welcome to all of our new Forward Tacoma readers, and we thank you for subscribing. After our recent Forward Tacoma announcement, we’ve doubled our subscription base over the course of one week. Most notably, our distribution now includes representatives from Tacoma’s employers (large and small), civic and non-profit organizations, Pierce and neighboring counties, and hundreds of Tacoma supporters. We’re up more than 400 subscribers now, and approximately 1,000 unique hits to our Web site. Please continue to spread the word about Forward Tacoma and the news within about this flourishing city that we’re so proud of.

Reminder: Don’t miss this weekend’s Tour of Urban Living
The annual Tour of Urban Living, a showcase of 25 of downtown Tacoma’s condominiums, townhomes and trendy apartments, is taking place on Oct. 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Maps of this free, self-guided tour will be available the day of the event at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, 1515 Commerce St.; by going to www.downtowntacomaliving.info; or through the Community and Economic Development Department, 747 Market St., 9th Floor.

Also, we’re hearing quite a buzz about Thursday evening's Block Tie Affair, a celebration of those already living downtown. Approximately 200 people have sent RSVPs for the event at the Tacoma Club, which will feature entertainment from local greats Matt Coughlin and Vicki Martinez, appetizers, and a chance for these downtowners to mix and mingle for the first time ever. Attendees will also be given Downtown Ambassador pins to wear during the Tour of Urban Living so they can field questions from potential residents, or just talk about their personal experiences in being an urban Tacoma pioneer. This event is by invitation only, and if you’d like to attend next year’s gathering, move downtown!
