Local speech coach wins competition; moves on to regional event
On Oct. 24, Datta Groover represented Fort Collins and Higher Speech in the Northern Colorado Speech Coaching Competition. In the competition, the coaches must listen to a test speaker that gives a speech that is five to seven minutes long. After hearing the speech, the audience or the contestants leave the room and return one at a time to coach the speaker. The one the judges deem has the best ideas and coaching abilities wins the competition. Groover not only won the competition of participants ranging from the Wyoming border along the Front Range to Denver but will now get the opportunity to represent Colorado at the next level in a regional competition with Wyoming, western Nebraska and Colorado.
