The DotOrg Foundation proposes to implement new validation systems – using independent validators – to enhance the level of confidence all Internet users have when visiting a .org nonprofit or noncommercial website.

Washington, D.C. – August 8, 2002 – The DotOrg Foundation, one of 11 contenders in the competition to take over the .org domain registry, announced today that a new Validation White Paper is available for download at the organization’s website, www.dotorgfoundation.org. The DotOrg Foundation proposes to implement new validation systems – using independent validators – to enhance the level of confidence all Internet users have when visiting a .org nonprofit or noncommercial website.

The DotOrg Foundation is a nonprofit organization partnering with Registry Advantage, a division of Register.com Inc. (NASDAQ: RCOM) and Kintera Inc., an online solutions provider for nonprofits. The latest organizations offering letters of support for the Foundation’s concepts include:

  • ePhilanthropy Foundation, which seeks to foster the ethical use of the Internet for philanthropic purposes
  • Charity Navigator, a leading U.S. validator providing information on more than eleven hundred charities and evaluating the financial health of each
  • World Reach (the Charity Giving Station), whose mission is to help companies help the world through corporate philanthropy initiatives
