A place to call home when in Abadiania:
Although it is wise to live in a pousada/Inn the first time you are visiting John of God, some (like me) enjoy returned for longer stretches of time and staying in a home.  My favorite place is the “House of Peace”.  The owner makes private rooms available when he can.  The view is superb. The home is 2 years old and beautifully furnished.  It’s a 2 minute walk to the Casa in a private, gated setting.  Although it has a full kitchen, meals can be purchased in nearby Inns and brought home to eat.
