If you haven't yet visited the
North Fork Community Art Gallery
or if you have - this week is a great time to be there. The featured artist/curator on Thursday, June 21st from 1:00pm to 5:00pm is the famous and talented Doug Boomer. Perfect time to get to chat with him about his work and view some of his extraordinary work in water color. Doug is a perfectionist and his work shows it - detail so incredible it borders on photographic, a truly extraordinary feat with watercolor. Friday features Phyllis Overstreet, a painter with international flair. Phyllis has a tutorial on the North Fork Arts Council web site at www.northforkartscouncil.org which says it all. She sketches where ever and whenever she is on the go and her work shows it. Check her out on the web and then visit with her this Friday, also from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Saturday continues with a duo of artists extraordinaire, Al & Marla Moody. They portray in watercolor, in a variety of styles, everything from the eye of the tiger to the lily in your bonnet. The gallery contains numerous examples of their fine work, and they will be on hand from 11:00am to 3:00pm to demonstrate their art in progress and chat with you about exhibited works. On Sunday Photographer Paul Henry Abram will be the featured photographer and curator, also ready and willing to discuss all aspects of his work, and photography in general. Recently returned from Maui, he has new work ranging from Hawaiian Cardinals that are feeding their young from a coconut to the Hawaiian State Fish, (believe it) the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a. His featured work also includes some of his "photographics" - ask him to explain the Bodie Ghost Car and the bizarre skeleton on a bicycle titled "Will he ever call". And, if that's not enough, the gallery is air-conditioned, so just stop in for a cold tea or soda and get out of the heat for a while!

Signing off... I wanted to take a moment of your time and thank everyone who has become a reader, continued as a reader and even some of those who left because you have all helped to improve your chamber newsletter. I actually resigned from my position as Chamber Web Administrator back in March but kept doing the newsletter wearing my other hat “Digital Mirrors” which I have operated with my wife Lisa in the Mountain Area since 2002. Thank you, Chris Baker
