Willow Bridge Books is One Year Old
Press Release for Anniversary Celebration
It’s Celebration Time at Willow Bridge Books!! Willow Bridge Books is One Year Old on June 30. The bookstore will celebrate its Birthday with an Open House Weekend Celebration. The party starts on Friday evening, June 29 at 5 p.m. with a Chamber Mixer at Willow Bridge Books in the Raley’s Shopping Center to announce the kickoff of Summer and to Celebrate the Birthday!!! The Friday night party will include a no host bar, music, hors d’ouvres, raffles and lots of fun!!! On Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, July 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. the bookstore will continue the celebration with music, raffles, and light refreshments. Stop by and visit and share in the fun and let the staff say thank you for your support this first year. All the authors, lecturers, vendors and artists who have helped make the first year a success have been invited to share in the fun!! Come by and visit with her favorites! For the children there will be a coloring contest with a picture provided by Steve Riley, author of “Little Ty Cooney and the Big Yosemite Race” and “Little Ty Cooney and the Yellowstone Mystery”. All the children will have the chance to color the drawing, post their drawing in the store, receive a small prize and be eligible to be the grand prize winner. Willow Bridge Books is an independent bookstore located in the Raley’s Center, Oakhurst, California. The bookstore initiated a number of special programs for the community and the over one million visitors each year that have supported education and tourism in our community. The “SCHOOL BUCKS” program allows the students at the local schools and their families and friends to use a One Dollar School Buck on their purchases at the bookstore and that One Dollar will be credited to their school’s account. The school then can purchase books for their libraries with the money in their account. The bookstore offers a Frequent Reader Card for its customers. Each time a customer purchases a book they receive a punch on their card. After the customer has purchased ten books they will receive their 11th book (up to a value of $25.00) for free. The Bookstore offers our hotel visitors “Hotel Coupons”. The visitors can bring their “Hotel Coupon” to the bookstore and draw their prize from the drawing box. Willow Bridge Books hosts an Author Evening each Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The bookstore has supported local authors, such as Margaret Garret Irwin, author of “The Journal of Anne Reading”, Peter Cavanaugh , author of “Local DJ, A Rock n’Roll History”, Samuel Alibrando, author of “Nature Never Stops Talking”, Roger and Loris Mitchell, authors of “Exploring the Sierra Vista National Scenic Byway” and many more. Children’s authors that have supported the bookstore include Steve Riley, author of “Little Ty Cooney and the Big Yosemite Race” and “Little Ty Cooney and the Yellowstone Mystery”, Maggie Caldwell Smith, author of “Junior Veterinarian #1; The Case of the Wounded Jack Rabbit”, Victoria Vincent, author of “The City of Kind Words”, Karen Adler, author of “Maybe Donna Wants a Cheeseburger” and many more. National authors that have visited the bookstore have included “Doctor Toy”, Dr. Stevanne Auerbach, author of “Smart Play, Smart Toys: How to Raise a Child with a High PQ”, Simon Wood, author of “Accidents Waiting to Happen” and “Working Stiffs”, Eric Lechasseur, author of “Love Eric” and Eric Lechasseur and Sanae Suzuki, authors of “Love Eric & Sanae”, T-Bone, Tim Arem, author of “Nordic Walking: A Total Body Experience and more. Willow Bridge Books is a supporter of major community events such as the author events at the Southern Yosemite Film Festival, the Reading of the student Authors of “Remembering the Past” and their instructors, Dr. Ed Hibler and Jacklin Allen Hibler, and “Sierra Saturday Art Hop” events featuring the Sierra Mountain Quilters Association special quilt show. The bookstore introduced special Saturday Lecture Series with topics on health, plants, birds, bugs, and more. Special lecture speakers have included Joanna Clines, Sierra National Forest Botanist, Bill Tyson, retired economic entomologist, Paul Worthington, analyst, consultant, and editor of Future Images, and many more. Willow Bridge Books supports the art community with a changing art exhibit throughout the store. The bookstore hosted the First Annual “All Artist Recognition Reception” to meet, acknowledge and recognize all the award winning artists in the community. Art exhibits at the store change regularly and feature different artists. Currently the exhibit is “The Faces of Half Dome”, a panoramic photography exhibit by Ron D. Young. Raffle tickets will be available for $1.00 to win one of Ron’s panoramic photos. Proceeds from the raffle will go to Ron’s favorite charity. The bookstore features a weekly STORYTIME with a different book and fun activity each week. What a fun place to go each Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. and now that summer is out even more children could join the group and enjoy reading. Books ordered on the website are shipped to your home or business with a nominal shipping charge.
