Kids Of Promise Sunrise Breakfast
Our Featured Sponsor
by Charli Eaton
Grandmother's Of The Light, an Oakhurst based non profit organization (www.grandmothersofthelight.org) is happy to announce the first Kids Of Promise Sunrise Breakfast on June 24, at 7AM, at the Elks Lodge in Madera, located at 112 West 6th St., Madera. This event is to benefit the Family Express Get On The Bus program that transports family members to the state prisons in Chowchilla for visiting Moms and Grandmoms. Support for this event has come from several local sources including New Life Fellowship Church, members of the Oakhurst Elks Lodge, members of the Oakhurst Chamber of Commerce, and Women in Business. "Stay Connected" bags have been prepared for each of the children that include sun hats for the girls, coloring gear, snacks, craft projects to do on the bus, and picture frames for pics of them with Mom in the visiting room. The breakfast menu will include ham, eggs and pancakes, plus an assortment of juices and cereals. Future breakfasts and Get Off The Bus events are planned for all the children. Your support is needed to keep these events going and keep these kids connected to the people they love. Please help by visiting our website to donate time or purchase one of our discount cards for online shopping. 100% of your funds go to benefit Grandmothers Of The Light and the California Children's Coalition. You can learn more about the issues concerning women, prison and the impact on all of our children by visiting our website. Information concerning all of our projects can be found on our donate page. Watch the website for more in depth information on women's issues and prison reform in the months ahead. Additions to the site are made daily as it continues to grow. Thank you to all who have been so generous with your time and money and continue to support these important children. It is our hope that God will be glorified in and through every action we take and that our Kids Of Promise will be a new generation of strong, courageous young people who make us all proud. Signing off... I wanted to take a moment of your time and thank everyone who has become a reader, continued as a reader and even some of those who left because you have all helped to improve your chamber newsletter. I actually resigned from my position as Chamber Web Administrator back in March but kept doing the newsletter wearing my other hat “Digital Mirrors” which I have operated with my wife Lisa in the Mountain Area since 2002. Thank you, Chris Baker
