WCF to Award $600,000 in Contracts
Youth participating in previous programs run by EXCEL Alternatives

WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA is in negotiations with three organizations to provide employment opportunities and training to out of school youth.  WCF welcomes two new vendors, Henkels & McCoy and the Cuban American National Council, as well as EXCEL Alternatives.

Henkels & McCoy’s program provides participants with the opportunity to build their own computers, which they will bring home after completing the program.  They will be working with 42 out of school youth in Seminole County.

The Cuban American National Council will be providing academic skills training, guidance in building career goals, and employment or training opportunities to 80 youth in Osceola County.

EXCEL Alternatives, in partnership with our ONE-STOP CAREER CENTER operator ACS, will serve 40 youth in Orange and Seminole Counties.  Participants in this program will be placed in 50-hour training programs at sponsoring businesses to gain experience in a corporate environment.

The 162 youth that will participate in these programs will gain valuable academic skills, work experience, and employment and training opportunities, among other experiences.  Contract negotiations are coming to a close and the programs should begin in October.
