Today, in a unanimous show
of support, the East Central Florida Regional
Planning Council approved the second of a three-year commitment to myregion.org.
The ECFRPC acts on behalf of six of the
counties participating in the regional development program (Brevard, Lake, Orange,
Osceola, Seminole and Volusia) as well as the Canaveral Port Authority. In a stellar example of public/private partnerships,
the governments contribute $900,000 in both in-kind and direct support and more
than $1 million are being contributed in private donations.
The second year of the project will focus on four critical steps: completion
of the information gathering stage, analysis of the data collected,
exploration of the opportunities and threats we face as a region, and
the drawing of conclusions on ways for Central Florida to be globally competitive
in the 21st Century. Over the next twelve months, the Executive
Committee and Leadership
Council, with assistance from the CEO
Roundtable, will be working diligently through these steps with the project
consultant, Michael Gallis.
