Brevard and myregion.org Look To Tomorrow

Much of myregion.org’s success can be attributed to the vision of the future shared by leaders throughout Central Florida, especially on the east coast where Brevard Tomorrow, a similar program was launched recently.

Like myregion.org, the project was prompted by the impact of rapid growth and challenges faced as the local and regional economies have expanded globally. Unlike myregion.org, Brevard Tomorrow was a six-month planning process that has now moved to the implementation phase. But the objectives are the same - defining, designing and determining the “preferred future” of the county.

It’s those interests that are being incorporated into the much broader myregion.org, which includes analyses of Brevard’s economy in relation to the others in Central Florida’s seven-county region.

Leigh Holt, the Strategic Planning Manager of Brevard Tomorrow and member of myregion.org’s Technical Committee states, “We knew we needed a local game plan before we could play on the larger field,” Holt says, “This way we were ready for the regional initiative.”

Both projects are dedicated to preparing for what the future holds for their communities and the much larger region. And both are working together sharing their findings and putting into action the idea of regionalism.
