All ‘Round The Region
Executive Committee members conveign at the Mission Inn in Lake County on June 21.

As the myregion.org initiative approaches Stage 3, Information Analysis, there remains a great deal to learn and discuss about this analysis of Central Florida. The myregion.org team continues to reach out to the community by giving presentations and meeting with key groups in the region. Following is a summary of some of the events that have taken place recently:

  • Executive Committee Meeting: myregion.org's Executive Committee met at the beautiful Mission Inn Resort in Lake County, from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 21 for an all-day retreat. At this meeting the project leadership discussed the accomplishments achieved throughout Stages 1 & 2 of the project, and began to identify what remains to be done during the upcoming year.

  • Hispanic Community Involvement: Vilma Quintana, Communications Director, myregion.org, will be making numerous public appearances throughout the Hispanic community via radio and television to promote this three-year initiative. “Community involvement is the key. We want to make sure every person within the region feels included,” said Vilma. “The Hispanic population is growing so rapidly that we need to be sure members of this community participate effectively in the myregion.org process.” Please take a look at the map depicting the region’s estimated percent rate of population growth.

  • Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors’ Bureau: On Thursday, June 19, project consultant Michael Gallis addressed the staff of the CVB. He was impressed by the state-of-the art facilities and by the fact that local organizations involved in the region’s tourism industry have just begun to build regional marketing efforts when historically, tourism institutions marketed themselves separately. This is a perfect example of the type of regional cooperation and collaboration that will make our region successful in the 21st century.
