myregion.org Takes
Smart Route

Innovative and complex, myregion.org is strikingly different from other municipal planning projects. By staying true to its fact-finding mission of identifying the region’s strengths and challenges, Central Florida will be able to position itself, not only locally but in the global marketplace as well.

Unlike other research projects that seek solutions to perceived needs, myregion.org examines the region and its components, and how they function and fit in a changing world. This analysis, or information gathering process, has resulted in a complex database of detailed information about 13 community systems or “Essential Activities” that include Education, Transportation, Demographics/Diversity, Economy/Workforce, Tourism, Development, Culture, Healthcare, Public safety, Infrastructure, Governance, Environment and History.

Presented in 250 full-color maps, the creative format offers a smart visual analysis of how each of the region’s seven counties interacts with each other and with the rest of the world.

Do you realize that our region has the only satellite launch center in North America? As space travel makes the transition from discovery to commercialization, the role of the space port will significantly expand. As you may note on this map (click map to enlarge), the satellite launch industry is now a highly competitive global business.

By accurately identifying the region’s assets and opportunities as they relate to Central Florida and beyond will enable researchers to develop conclusions based on fact. But there will be no recommendations during this phase of the project.

“It will be up to the myregion.org leadership to interpret the data in a way that effectively directs the region’s future in the 21st century,” Seminole County Commissioner Randy Morris, Co-Chair-at-Large of myregion.org . “This analysis should give us the information we need to identify our strengths, challenges and opportunities, and then design an infrastructure that fortifies the region for the future.”
