A dozen Brevard County volunteers became certified last week as members of the myregion.org Speakers Bureau, an element of the project that continues to experience increased demand.

“We’re excited that there is so much enthusiasm about the bureau because we’re getting more requests for speakers all through the seven county area,” said Executive Committee member and Communications Committee Liaision Ellen Titen. “The demand for the speakers program has exceeded our expectations.”

This was the third Speakers Bureau training class held by myregion.org. Volunteer speakers from all seven counties are being certified and are speaking at a variety of events throughout their communities about the importance of the activities of myregion.org and opportunities for participation. Events range from community and civic events to trade association and business functions.

Bob Stovash, Orlando attorney, and Frank Kaiser, president of the Brevard County Home Builders and Contracting Association, both have successfully completed speaking engagements in their communities.

Stovash told his audience of 25 that he’s hopeful the myregion.org exploration will lead to inspiring a new level of community leadership—one of the project’s objectives.

Meanwhile, Kaiser participated in the training program by providing those in the class with a firsthand account of how to present the PowerPoint program, what to focus on and how to prepare for questions from the audience. Kaiser will be speaking before his association, which has a membership of more than 100.

“Their involvement is indicative of the level of commitment we are seeing as myregion.org continues to attract more attention,” said Titen.
