Members of the Lakeland City Council and Polk County business leaders received and update Monday on the status of myregion.org, in an effort to keep partners current about the two-year process.
More than 30 people attended the meeting to hear the latest news about myregion.org. Jacob Stuart, president of myregion.org, was invited to appear before the council by Lakeland City Council Member Gow Fields, who is a member of the myregion.org Leadership Council. Polk County is a partner in the initiative and has shown active participation. Other Polk County members of the myregion.org leadership were in attendance. The meeting was videotaped and will be broadcasted throughout the community.
myregion.org is currently in the data-gathering phase. The council’s invitation demonstrates that participation continues to grow as the project progresses. The presentation focused on the need for leadership and that this is the first-ever, seven-county effort to join together for the sole purpose of learning about the shared issues that affect the region now and into the 21st century.
