Visitors to the interactive Web site for myregion.org are spending more time and are accessing more topic areas included on the site, according to regular tracking of Web site activity.
The site attracts a weekly average of 500 new hits, demonstrating that interest in this regional development program remains strong and steady. It’s believed that because site updates are so timely and included the latest information about every aspect of myregion.org, visitors continue to return and are now staying longer.
www.myregion.org was launched with the December 2001 rollout of the three-year consensus building and leadership to promote smart management of the region’s future in more than a dozen study areas including Transportation, Culture, Environment, Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure, History, Demographics/Diversity,
Public Safety, Tourism, Development, Government and Economy/Workforce.
“We believe that the consistency in Web activity is indicative of the community’s interest in myregion.org,” said Chairman Joel Hass. “The Web site has proven to be a significant communication vehicle among the project leadership and the public.”
The Web site’s objective is to facilitate dialogue throughout the region on a wide range of issues with a higher goal of inclusiveness so that every interested voice and opinion will be heard.
The Web site includes an explanation of the history of myregion.org, the project mission, project leadership, and the issues that are being examined. Additionally, the Web site contains calendars for all activities taking place, as well as continual updates on project activities.
myregion.org is an initiative designed to identify the issues that affect the region as a whole, as well as issues that affect individual communities. The results of this process will build a framework for regional thinking and consensus building to address infrastructure needs, promote effective communication and coordinate planning and management of the region’s future.
