Cox & Smith Incoporated (San Antonio, TX) / Larson King L.L.P. (St. Paul, MN)

Cox & Smith represented a client in a litigation matter in San Antonio, Texas. The client also had some related, pending litigation ongoing in Minnesota, a state in which the client had almost no contacts. In a last-minute maneuver that took the client by surprise, the law firm representing the client in the Minnesota action withdrew literally days before a very important hearing and a trial date only a few weeks away. In an effort to help the client obtain new counsel in an extremely short time-frame, Brett Schouest and Jason Speights of Cox & Smith contacted Mark Solheim at Larson King. He stepped into the quite complicated matter, filed a response to the Motion in a matter of days, and completely took over representation of the client and began to prepare for trial. While the matter in Minnesota is still ongoing at this point, the client is quite pleased with the representation it has received from Mr. Solheim and Larson King, and the client greatly appreciates the good and quick referral Cox & Smith was able to make in that regard.

Cox & Smith Incorporated (San Antonio, TX)/O'Hagan, Smith & Amundsen, L.L.C. (Milwaukee, WI)

A Texas based company was being threatened with litigation in Wisconsin. Cox & Smith was initially presented with the case and referred the company to O'Hagan, Smith & Amundsen for a legal opinion and guidance as to their rights so that the client could weigh their options and make an intelligent decision. O'Hagan, Smith & Amundsen gave the client information on the cost of potential litigation and gave an opinion as to the possibility of asserting any lien rights so as to put pressure on the debtor and so encourage prompt payment without suit. The client has a draft of O'Hagan, Smith & Amundsen demand letter. O'Hagan, Smith & Amundsen will be sending the letter, and then will be following up for the response of the debtor. The client can then weigh options and choose a course of action.
