Florida High Tech Corridor Workforce Study is Now Available

The second annual Florida High Tech Corridor workforce study is now available online. Sponsored by the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, Tampa Bay Partnership, Workforce Florida Inc, Workforce Central Florida, Marion County Economic Development Council, and Manatee County Economic Development Council, this year's study will focus on companies with 25 or more employees in eight target sectors.

  1. Aviation & Aerospace
  2. Information Technology
  3. Medical Technologies
  4. Microelectronics
  5. Modeling, Simulation & Training
  6. Optics & Photonics
  7. Educational Institutions
  8. Healthcare Provider

Geographic Solutions and Nielsen Media Research, two Tampa Bay area based companies, have been selected to collect information on the Corridor labor market by conducting surveys and developing an online resource for employers, jobseekers, workforce development boards, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, educational institutions, and state agencies.

The Florida High Tech Corridor includes the 21 counties that make up the service areas of the University of Central Florida and the University of South Florida.

This region stretches from Volusia County and Florida’s Space Coast on the Atlantic through Metro Orlando and on to Tampa Bay. Current studies have revealed thousands of high tech companies reside along the Corridor.

Information gathered in the project will be augmented with last year's survey results and the latest data from Florida’s Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI), such as current employment and unemployment rates, educational providers, and projected growth.

Employers will be able to use this valuable tool to locate and attract qualified workers as well as for planning and forecasting efforts.

Job seekers will also be able to use the system to find new occupations by identifying skills and accessing local labor market information on projected growth and wages. In addition, job seekers will be able to access relevant employer contacts and current job listings, find information on the education and job experience needed for specific occupations, and access details on relevant local training programs.
