myregion.org lead consultant Michael Gallis addressed New York’s top business, political and real estate leaders at a recent major conference focusing on the future of the Manhattan office market, considered to be the foundation of the region’s economy and a barometer of its economic health and dynamism. Gallis was one of only four leading national experts invited to speak at this event.
The goals of the conference were to present the most current model of the structure and scope of the Manhattan office market and to understand current trends. The conference explored the prospective demand for New York office space, investigated what alternative courses the existing and future office market can take, and evaluated New York City without significant new office creation.
Gallis presented a new version of the Manhattan/Region office market model based on his extensive knowledge of the New York region and his work in building frameworks for statewide development in New Jersey, Connecticut and New York. He discussed the state's role in the coming century within the context of the global economy and financial networks and described the future relationship of New York to other New York boroughs, the surrounding four-state region, and the emerging North American trading bloc.
Presentations by the Real Estate Institute at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), New York University (NYU) and Baruch College focused on characteristics of the New York market.
In addition to myregion.org, Michael Gallis has successfully led other in-depth development programs in the metropolitan areas of Charlotte, Cincinnati, Memphis, and West Michigan as well as for several states, including Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and, currently, Illinois and New York. His frameworks have been highly effective in helping leaders across the country understand states as continuous patterns of integrated urban and economic activities in the context of the global, North American and super regional networks. As with his other projects, myregion.org will result in strong regional consensus and new public, private and institutional coalitions for developing and carrying out strategic development programs in Central Florida.
