Cully Named New President/CEO for Chamber
Kirk Gentry, Chairman of the Board of the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce announced to the Board of Directors on Thursday, April 10th that Mike Cully, current President/CEO of the Visalia California Chamber of Commerce would take over the reigns of the Chamber in May. Cully replaces Terry Saverson who retired from the Chamber at the start of the year.

Council Rejects Chamber Application for Oktoberfest after 34 years
At the April 23rd La Mesa City Council meeting, the council voted by a 4-1 vote (Ruth Sterling being the dissenter) to reject the application for the La Mesa Oktoberfest from the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce and give the application to the La Mesa Village Merchants Association and the 4 month old La Mesa Chamber of Commerce. The East County Chamber will have no role in the 2008 La Mesa Oktoberfest.

State of the East County to Be Focus of First Friday Breakfast
The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce’s First Friday Breakfast will begin a month of activities celebrating East County Prosperity. New Military Leave Info Must be Posted by Employers
The federal government amended the Family Medical Leave Act on Jan.28 that provides additional leave rights to military personnel and their families. This is a federally required posting and must be posted next to your California and Federal Employment Poster immediately. Failure to post could result in fines and penalties.
The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce will FAX members a copy of the notice so you can attach it to your poster. Just call the office at (619) 440-6161.
