The
Brentwood Swimmers had an incredible ending to a great swim season. Andrew
Colbert (11) and Diana Ciraulo (9) both made CIF finals. Colbert, who never
competed in swimming prior to this season, became a fearsome sprinter and took
5th place in both the 100 and 50 yards freestyles. Ciraulo, who as a
freshman, did not expect to make CIF at all, and became the first girl in
school history to final in CIF. She came from a 21st seed to take 16th
overall in the finals of the 200 yard freestyle…
In
addition, the freestyle relay of Paul Terasaki (11), Justin Spitz (11), Jack
Jennings (9) and Colbert took an 8th in CIF finals. The medley relay
of Terasaki, Greg Caruso (11), Spitz and Colbert, was disqualified in the
prelims, but with a little more experience would have qualified 16th.
Special
congratulations also go out to the Girls Varsity Swim Team, whose GPA average
earned them All-Academic honors among every sports team for the entire year.
Way to go, girls!
