District Office PSSA Wii Baseball

Dr. Andrew Jones and LaShonda GreenDr. Andrew “Fast Ball” Jones, vice chancellor of Educational Affairs, and LaShonda “Outta the Park” Green, vice president of District Office PSSA, compete in The Ballpark @ 701 event June 20.

About 50 employees enjoyed an “afternoon at the ballpark” playing Wii baseball and raising funds for the PSSA. Linda Walker won the grand prize of Texas Rangers tickets and a DCCCD autographed baseball. Kevin Robinson, April Ellis and George Merida were runners up, winning tickets for the Grand Prairie AirHogs.

Employee Retirement System (ERS) Summer Enrollment

Prepare now for ERS Summer Enrollment, July 28–Aug. 22, by logging into the ERS Web site. Once there, you can: 

  • Update your phone number, mailing address and e-mail address
  • Update dependent and beneficiary personal information
  • View a summary of your current benefits
Good news for members during the 2008–2009 plan year:

  • Health Select rates will not increase
  • Optional benefit rates will not increase
  • Dental HMO rates will not increase
  • Dental indemnity plan rates will increase by only 5 percent

Caremark Selected to Manage Pharmacy Benefits

ERS has named Caremark as the new pharmacy/prescription plan administrator beginning Sept. 1, 2008. This change will affect Health Select participants as follows:

  • Plan deductible and co-pays will remain the same
  • Members can still use their current retail pharmacy with new ID card
Remaining prescription refills will transfer from Medco to Caremark unless prohibited by federal law. ERS will work closely with both companies to assure a smooth transition. Look for detailed information on this change via e-mail soon.

 

Building a Better Work Environment
First Brown Bag Series Starts July 11

Organizational Development (Org/Dev) announces its pilot “brown bag” series entitled Building a Better Work Environment. This initial group of programs is open to employees of the District Office, District Service Center, El Centro and LeCroy Center.

Each of the seven sessions will meet from 11:30 a.m–1 p.m. in the District Office conference room. Bring your own lunch; drinks and informational handouts will be provided. Since class size is limited to 25 participants, e-mail Charles Ruiz to reserve your space no later than a week before each session.

HR Announcements
  • Starting in July, employees will be able to view their own vacation and sick leave balances on the eConnect Employees Menu. By early fall, this option will replace the monthly paper leave-balance sheet. Watch your e-mail for the districtwide launch! 

  • DCCCD job descriptions are once again on the district Human Resources (HR) Web site. 

  • HR wants your comments and opinions on current policies, procedures and practices. Full-time employees will soon receive an e-mail invitation to provide confidential feedback through an online survey.
