Celebrate Reading With Us!
You won’t want to miss the
2009 DCCCD African-American Read-In: Say It Loud: I Read and I’m Proud! Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Majestic Theater 1925 Elm St. Downtown Dallas
This 10th-annual celebration will give children and adults the opportunity to enjoy a special, free afternoon of reading and culture. This year’s event will reprise some of the highlights of AARI’s first decade.
Featured readers and performers will include:

- Lisa Nichols, author of two “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books and a featured teacher of The Secret
- Actress Irma P. Hall, star of “A Family Thing,” “Soul Food” and “The Ladykillers”
- Richard Glaubman, co-author of “Life Is So Good” with George Dawson and “More Than a Book; a Story of Friendship”
- Dallas Black Dance Theatre
- African drumming troupe Ayubu Kamau Kings and Queens
- Jazz saxophonist David Carr Jr.
- Joseph Jammer (performing as “Lyndale the Literary Lion”)
