Find a Scholarship Online
You may be aware that DCCCD offers more than 350 scholarships through the DCCCD Foundation, but there are plenty of non-DCCCD scholarships you can apply for as well. Our Scholarship Resources page has links to online databases where you can search for scholarships that match your background and interests and also lists other resources with information about paying for college.
Remember, there are scholarships out there even for students who don’t have perfect grades. And unlike loans, scholarships are a gift you don’t have to pay back!
Another helpful resource for information about outside scholarships is the Financial Aid Office at the college you plan to attend. Call, e-mail or drop by in person, and we’ll be glad to help you.

Save $$$ With Online Classes
Did you know that DCCCD offers hundreds of distance learning courses? Distance learning brings the classroom to you — around the world and around the clock — and can make it easier to achieve your educational goals. And since you don’t have to commute to campus, taking classes online can help you save money, too. *
Distance learning faculty and curriculum meet the same standards as those of the traditional classroom. Best of all, through open enrollment, the most popular core courses start again every few weeks.
If you’re not sure if online classes are a good fit for you, check out Dallas TeleCollege’s online distance learning readiness assessment (READI). Don’t worry, it’s not a test; READI is just a tool to help you identify your strengths and learning preferences as you prepare to take classes online.
View our distance learning class schedules to find out what’s available, or visit our college Web sites for more information:
Have questions? Contact an academic advisor at the college of your choice to find out how you can benefit from online classes.
*Please note that out-of-state students who receive all instruction remotely pay $55 per credit hour for distance learning services.

Student Success Story: Rogelio Vera
After serving in the U.S. Army, Rogelio Vera decided to take advantage of the GI Bill and get a college education. Like many other students, he didn’t know what he wanted to major in when he started taking classes at DCCCD. But with encouragement from his accounting professor, he discovered a career in which he could excel.
“The teachers made the difference,” Rogelio says. “They were all very approachable.
“I have recommended DCCCD’s accounting program to many people,” he says. “My niece graduated in May of 2007. I would like to think that the reason she attended was because I told her of the positive experiences I had at DCCCD.”
Rogelio went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. He now has a successful career as an IRS revenue agent and has earned multiple awards. And Rogelio’s military background has served him well; he has traveled as far as Italy and Greece to instruct judges advocate general how to prepare income tax returns for military personnel.
Could you be the next success story?
