At DCCCD … It’s All About Teaching
Community colleges have a different concept of teaching than traditional colleges and universities. Community college instructors are all about teaching — not research, not publishing; for them, it’s teaching. That’s their passion. And they’re genuinely interested in your success.
If you’re looking for teachers who will inspire you, mentor you and share their valuable expertise and a wealth of experience, step into a community college classroom. Our small classes enable you to build a relationship with your instructor — a relationship in which you’ll learn more from your instructor’s experience in the classroom and connections in the community.

Our Instructors Know Their Stuff
Since DCCCD was founded more than 40 years ago, we’ve recruited and hired only the best faculty. About one-fourth of DCCCD’s full-time instructors have doctorates. All instructors who teach academic courses have a master’s degree. And instructors in our technical career training programs bring valuable, real-world experience and industry expertise into the classroom.
Compared to all community colleges in the state of Texas, salaries for DCCCD’s full-time faculty rank second, so we attract and keep the best. We’re proud of our instructors for the quality and commitment to teaching they bring into our classes and share with our students.

Student Success Story: Nicole Jordan
Nicole Jordan says, “Earning an associate degree in Business Administration has helped me in so many ways in my job as an auto loan funder for HSBC.”
In her classes at DCCCD, Nicole notes, she developed a wide range of skills in management, accounting, communication and more that have made a difference in her career.
“The best part of my education was the interaction with teachers,” Nicole says. “I love the one-on-one contact. You can call them or e-mail them — they make time for you, and I love that.”
She adds, “My four-year-old has been my biggest motivation. I want to tell him, ‘Yes, I finished college, so I know you can do it, too.’”
Could you be the next success story?
