Why Am I Getting This eNewsletter?

Where did this come from?Hey, how’s it going?

College You Can Afford!

Community means support.Same course, same learning objectives, same quality of instruction, better price! A three credit-hour course at DCCCD costs $117. The same course at UTA costs $916 and at UTD, $1,492. How can DCCCD offer the same course and charge so much less?

“Community” is key to the answer about cost at DCCCD. As a community college, DCCCD is college for the people, funded by the people. A portion of local property taxes collected annually by Dallas County supports DCCCD. Those tax dollars, in conjunction with funding from the state of Texas and DCCCD’s tuition charges, make it possible for the college district to provide high-quality course offerings at one of the lowest tuition rates in the state. Because state and private universities don’t have a local tax base for additional support, they must charge higher tuition rates.

As a Dallas County resident, DCCCD is your community college. Take advantage of an affordable college education at one of the best community college systems in the country. It all begins here.

Student Success Story: Christopher C. Haley

Meet Chris Haley.Christopher C. Haley earned an associate degree in PC Support and additional certificates in North Lake College’s CIT program. Currently, he’s a system administrator for Appliance Warehouse of America Inc. If you’re interested in the computer field, studying CIT would be a wise investment in your career, he says.

“The staff [at North Lake] made it extremely easy to decide on a degree plan,” Christopher says, “and they were there to assist me the entire way.”

Because of the great professors at North Lake, he adds, “studying was no longer a chore; it was an activity that I looked forward to.”
