Don't Miss Out on the Chance to Get a TEXAS Grant
The state of Texas provides up to $865 per semester in financial aid to qualified students through a program called TEXAS Grant. But, according to our financial aid director, every year, many new DCCCD students miss out on this opportunity. Why? Because they don’t turn in an official copy of their high school transcript to their DCCCD college’s Admissions Office in time.
So make sure this doesn’t happen to you. If you’re getting ready to enroll, and you meet the other qualifications for the TEXAS Grant, be sure the Admissions Office at the DCCCD college you plan to attend has a copy of your official transcript. (Even if you think your high school sent a copy of your transcript, double check!)
Why Is My Transcript So Important?
One of the qualifications for the TEXAS Grant is you must have completed the Recommended High School Program or Distinguished Achievement Program. The Recommended High School Program has been the standard curriculum for Texas public high school students since 2004-2005, so chances are good you meet this qualification if you're a recent high school graduate. Your high school transcript provides proof that you completed one of these programs, so DCCCD has to have your transcript on file before you can be considered for the TEXAS Grant.
What Else Do I Have to Do to Get a Texas Grant?
As long as you meet the minimum eligibility requirements and get your official high school transcript to us, you just have to complete the regular financial aid application process to be considered for a TEXAS Grant. There is no separate application to worry about.
Have questions? Contact the Financial Aid Office at the DCCCD college you plan to attend.
