Did You Know … ?
… that DCCCD now has a virtual home in Second Life?
What’s Second Life, you ask? It’s an online “world” where you can interact with people from across the globe by using a 3-D character you create (called an avatar) that represents you.
Many colleges and universities have established a presence in Second Life so that they can offer their students simulated environments in which to learn and work — and now DCCCD is on its way to offering the same opportunities to its students.
DCCCD’s plans for using Second Life are still being developed, but the possibilities are endless. Imagine studying marine life in a virtual “ocean,” or learning about World War II by playing a soldier in a 3-D simulation!
