Ashley Bryan, author, illustrator and our honored guest! You won’t want to miss the

2008 DCCCD African-American Read-In: Read, Believe, Achieve!
Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008
2 p.m.-4 p.m.
Majestic Theater
1925 Elm St.
Downtown Dallas

This ninth-annual celebration will give children and adults the opportunity to enjoy a special, free afternoon of reading and culture.

Ashley Bryan, the featured guest at this year’s Read-In, has been writing and illustrating children’s books for 30 years. Over those years, he has also lectured widely and has appeared at schools and colleges across the country. He has been a May Hill Arbuthnot lecturer, a Coretta Scott King award winner (most recently for “Beautiful Blackbird”) and the recipient of numerous other awards, prizes and recognitions. He lives in Islesford, Maine, one of the Cranberry Islands off the coast of Mount Desert Island, where his paintings of island flowers are shown and sold at a local gallery.

Local artists and performers will add their talents to this educational and entertaining event for the whole family. And remember, it’s free! Seating is limited, so be sure to come early.

For more information, visit the African-American Read-In Web page.
