Legislation
During its monthly meeting on Tuesday, the DCCCD Board of Trustees signed a joint letter supporting HB 381, which encourages state agencies to use community colleges to provide training for employees. This bill awaits further consideration by the House Higher Education Committee. [read the bill]
 Several additional bills of particular interest to DCCCD are: SB 289, SB 1146 and HB 3827. SB 289 relates to the use of professional nursing shortage reduction program grants. [read the bill]
SB 1146 would create online “report cards” for institutions of higher education. [read the bill]
HB 3827 relates to the manner in which governing boards of junior colleges can hold meetings via conference call. [read the bill]
