BBB is again alerting businesses to beware of mailings sent by an independent yellow pages publisher, Yellow Pages Directories, P.O. Box 111580, Carrollton, TX. Businesses across the country continue to complain that mailings from Yellow Pages Directories are misleading and fail to adequately disclose the terms of the offer. Due to the complaints, the business has a BBB rating of F, the lowest rating possible.

Smishing is a new way to steal your personal information, reports Roni Proter of CW33, Ch. 33, Dallas - Fort Worth. The term "smishing" is a combination of phishing and SMS -- basically, promoting a scam through text messages. BBB explains that scammers send fake text messages about a prize or gift card that appear to be from well-known businesses. The purpose is to get victims to click on a link where personal information would be collected.
