WHAT’S IN THE MAIL
Part of securing customer and financial information requires that businesses analyze their hardware, software, and other Internet network security. Consistent oversight serves to preclude outside hackers from compromising your customer database, bank records and other sensitive information. Presumably your system operates security products to protect against viruses and other malware. Someone on the staff probably checks on a regular basis to see that all upgrades have been run and the network is safe.

GIVE ME BACK MY DATA
According to John Livingston, Chairman and CEO of Absolute Software, “Give Me Back My Data” will the number one thing IT Directors will be saying in 2007. As we head into the new year, identity theft still remains a primary concern for all consumers, businesses, and state and federal government. The second prediction according to IT Directors is that many people charged with the responsibility of their business’ network will be clueless to the fact that large amounts of personal identity data will be or are being stolen. Many of these data breaches are caused by employers with lax security. MORE REGULATIONS?
December of last year the Federal Trade Commission announced that the Federal Identity Theft Task Force was seeking public comment on ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Federal Government efforts to reduce identity theft. The public comment period closed on January 19, 2007.
