The National Technical Honor Society hosted an induction ceremony Oct. 28 , at the Central Park Campus, to honor the latest group of students being welcomed into the organization. This is the highest national honor obtainable for students who choose technical education pathways to successful futures. The purpose of the Collin College chapter is to reward educational excellence, to develop self-esteem, to promote critical workplace values and to champion a stronger positive image for workforce education. Twenty-one students will be so honored this fall. They are Rashida Abdul, Bridget Blaylock, Tahili Borges-Barrios, Stephenie Broden, Tracy Grinnell, Paloma Hernandez, Timothy Herring, John Knox, Stephanie Matthews, Kristen Mendez, Nathan Misutka, Kimberly Moore, Holly Prentice, Emily Romano, Taylor Schmidt, Morgan Scott, David Sharp, Jay Stennett, Robert Williams, Ryan Williams, and Shanon Young.
Linda Denke, professor of nursing, recently returned from speaking at the 19th National Conference of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing, Sept. 12-15 in Jacksonville, Fla. Her presentation was titled “Ethnography of Military Women Experiencing Chronic Non-Malignant Pain.”

Dr. Barbara Money, vice president of Student Development, was named the Educator of the Year by the Plano Community Forum during its 28th annual Awards Banquet, Oct. 3.
Professor Joan Reese’s English dual credit class at Allen High School filled 16 boxes in support of the fall Meals on Wheels “Harvest Boxes” drive. According to coordinator Kathy DiBenedetto: “These students clearly demonstrated that larger issues in the world are important to them. It’s nice to know teens truly care and want to share with the elderly.”

| On October 16, the All College Council delivered more than 120 decorated boxes of groceries and goods donated by Collin College faculty, staff and students to the Collin County Council on Aging for the Meals on Wheels Harvest Boxes Program. |
