SMU pre-admission program deadline Aug. 1

Collin College students interested in transferring to Southern Methodist University (SMU) should consider the pre-admission program.

The deadline for registration is Saturday, Aug. 1.

The program is geared for Collin College students who want to transfer to SMU, students with a grade point average of 2.95 with fewer than 30 transferable hours, or students with a grade point average of 2.7 with more than 30 transferable hours.

In the application, students are required to complete two essay questions and must provide a recommendation letter from a professor.

The program allows students to attend Collin College and earn core credit. All the while, they can work with SMU advisors to ensure a seamless transfer of those credit to the university. Also, students can take advantage of lecture and sporting event tickets, a DART pass, access to SMU’s library and more.

Collin College has similar agreements with nine other colleges and universities, including: Austin College, Baylor University, Dallas Baptist University, Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas Tech University, Texas Woman’s University The University of Texas at Dallas and the University of North Texas.
