THE ARTS gallery will welcome the world-renowned artist John Collier and some of his most famous works through Saturday, Sept. 13. THE ARTS gallery is located at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Collier will be on hand during an artist talk at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center. A reception is set starting at 6 p.m. the same night in the gallery. The Collin College Auteur Film Series will begin its 2008-09 series with the screening of “Under the Same Moon,” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Seating is limited. Some material may not be suitable for all audiences. “Under the Same Moon” is rated PG-13 and run 106 minutes. “Under the Same Moon” is presented in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month. As with all the screenings, the film will be followed by a panel discussion led by Collin College faculty and staff. Collin College and the Texas Historical Commission are teaming up to present a workshop for those interesting in conducting and recording oral histories pertaining to World War II titled “Here and There: Recollections of Texas in World War II" is set from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Preston Ridge Campus Founder’s Hall, Room, F148, located at 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco. Collin College will present Fair Trade Day at the Spring Creek Campus atrium from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, in conjunction with the “Sugar Babies” documentary screening and visit with the film’s producer later in the month.
