Campus Dates

The public is invited to attend nightly concerts during Collin College’s 14th annual Texas All-Star Jazz Camp Sunday-Friday, July 20-25. The concerts start at 8 p.m. at the John Anthony Theatre located at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. The free concerts will feature the Texas All-Star Jazz Camp faculty. Special guests Dick Oatts, alto saxophonist, will perform with the camp band Tuesday, July 22. THE ARTS gallery will host “Public/Private Space,” a photography scholarship show throughThursday, July 31. The exhibit showcases the “Viewpoints 2007” Best of Show winner Carolyn Helvey. THE ARTS gallery is located at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery summer hours are: Monday-Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information, visit the gallery’s website at www.ccccd.edu/THEARTSgallery or call 972.881.5873.      

Current and future Collin College students have until Friday, Aug. 1 to apply for the Southern Methodist University (SMU) pre-admissions program. The program allows students to attend Collin College and earn core credit. The Auteur Film Series kicks off another year under the theme “The Compleat Stranger: At Home Away From Home with the Immigrant Figure in Film,” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, with a screening of “Under the Same Moon.” The film will be shown at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center. The event is free and open to the public. “Under the Same Moon” chronicles the life of an illegal immigrant from Mexico working in the United States to provide a better life for her son. The film is presented in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month. It is rated PG-13 and runs 106 minutes.
