THE ARTS gallery will host “RANDOM THOUGHTS & curious dreams,” from Monday, June 2-30. The exhibit showcases the “Viewpoints 2007” Best of Show winner Carolyn Helvey. THE ARTS gallery is located at the Spring Creek Campus. A reception is set for 6 p.m., Thursday, June 12. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Collin College will host a free information session about high-tech careers in emerging technology fields from 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, in the Preston Ridge Campus Heritage Hall Convergence Technology Laboratory, room H241. College representatives will discuss how students can increase marketable skills and earn specialized certificates and two-year degrees in information systems, cybersecurity, wireless technologies, Cisco, Microsoft, Voice-over-IP (VoIP), Home Technology Integration (HTI) and others areas. Mike Anderson, supervising director of “The Simpsons” will be the keynote speaker at the annual Industry Giants 2008: Drawing on Ideas! Friday-Saturday, June 6-7, at the Spring Creek Campus. The event is hosted by Collin College’s Applied Graphic Design Technology department and the non-profit A Bunch of Short Guys. Industry Giants includes master classes, a forum and panel discussion and a line-up of speakers from the gaming and animation world. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Advance combination tickets for both the master classes and the full-day forum are $35 for students and $75 for the public and professionals. Advance tickets to the one-day forum only are $15 for students and $20 for the public and professionals. Combination tickets purchased at the door are $45 for students and $85 for the public and professionals. Summer I and III classes begin Monday, June 9.

Collin College's Fire Rescue Camp 2008 is set from Monday, June 9-Friday, June 13, at the Central Park Campus in McKinney. The camp is for boys and girls, age 14-18, interested in the activities of fire-rescue personnel. Teenagers will participate in hands-on training exercise learning the skills of professional firefighters. Program concludes with skills demonstration for family and friends. Times are 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8:30 a.m.-noon,  Friday. Camp participants should bring a sack lunch each day. No one will be allowed to leave the training grounds unless accompanied by a parent. Cost is $150. Call Leslie Thetford or Monica Wright at 972.548.6836 for registration information.

Collin College will host the 8th annual Biotechnology Conference from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Thursday, June 12, at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Harold “Skip” Garner, professor Biochemistry and Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern. The theme of the conference is “Biotechnology: The Crossroads of Controversy and Solutions.” Cost to attend the conference is $20. Collin College students have until Sunday, June 15 to apply for scholarships from the Collin College Foundation. Applications are available online by visiting http://foundation.ccccd.org. The Collin Theatre Center will present William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors June 19-21, 26-28 at 8 p.m. and June 22 and 29 at 2:15 p.m. All performances are at the Black Box Theatre at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. The Comedy of Errors  is directed by Joanne Zipay, artistic director of the Judith Shakespeare Company in New York City. All tickets are $5.
