5 tips to saving energy

It’s good for the Earth and pocketbook.

The Water Heater

Most are set for 140 degrees. Turn the thermostat down to 120 or 115 degrees.

The Short Shower

Work in the 5-minute shower. It uses about one-third of the hot water of a bath.

The Shade Tree

Outside shade can reduce air conditioning costs up to 30 percent. Especially if trees are planted on the west and east sides.

The Ceiling Fan

Set the thermostat a few degrees higher and turn on the fan. A potential reduction of 15-25 percent in air conditioning costs.

The Air Filter

Change them regularly. Clogged air filters prevent air flow and cooling costs rise. Eventually, a dirty filter could affect the unit and you could incur costly repair bills.
