Elaine Wilkinson, chair and professor of education, was inducted into the Texas Woman's University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, a national honor society in April 2008.

Donna White

Donna White and Rebecca Orr, professors of biology, presented "Now You See Me! An Investigation of the Eyes, the Brain and Vision," and Amy Helms, professor of biology, presented "Exploring DNA" at the Sally Ride Science Festival at SMU April 2008.

 

The 16th annual Collin Jazz Festival attracted more than 600 attendees and featured special guests saxophonist Kim Richmond and trumpeter Clay Jenkins.

Lupita Tinnen
Lupita Tinnen, professor of photography, was selected by the Center for Photography at Woodstock for Woodstock A-I-R, a residency program for minorities working in the photographic arts.

Brenda Carter, dean of academic affairs at the Central Park Campus, was named to the city of McKinney Community Grants Advisory Commission.

The Knowledge is Power lecture series hosted about 200 attendees during its April 2008 presentation, "Farming for Fuel: Will Biofuels Work?” at the Preston Ridge Campus.



Collin College held its annual Earth Day event in coordination with the city of Frisco April 15-16 at the Preston Ridge Campus. The event featured panel discussions, films, a recycled-item fashion show and much more.

Tiffany Kellerman organized a student fashion show featuring garments made from renewable, recycled and/or repurposed materials.

Collin College and The Turning Point Rape Crisis Center hosted the 5th annual Candlelight Vigil April 24 with emcee Macie Jepson of WFAA Channel 8. The event commemorated Sexual Assault Awareness month in April.

Students created T-shirts in order to bring awareness to sexual assault.
