Collin College will host an Earth Day Celebration Tuesday-Wednesday, April 15-16 at its Preston Ridge Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd., in Frisco. Events will focus around the theme of “It Is Easy To Be Green! Recycle – Reuse -- Renew Our Planet.” Through various activities and lectures, attendees will learn how to make choices that will improve quality of life and benefit the environment. The Distinguished Speaker Series presents Dr. Michael Shermer, founding publisher of Skeptic magazine and executive director of the Skeptics Society, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 15. The Collin Theatre Center concludes their 2007-2008 season with Blithe Spirit, the smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages. The ingenious plot tells how novelist Charles Condomine invites into his placid country home an eccentric, breezy medium in order to learn the language of the occult. Directed by Robin Armstrong. Free oral HIV testing will take place Tuesday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 29, at the Spring Creek Campus. Testing is not automatic. Collin College's Fire Rescue Camp 2008 is set from Monday, June 9-Friday, June 13, at the Central Park Campus in McKinney. The camp is for boys and girls, age 14-18, interested in the activities of fire-rescue personnel. Teenagers will participate in hands-on training exercise learning the skills of professional firefighters. Program concludes with skills demonstration for family and friends. Times are 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8:30 a.m.-noon, Friday.
