Quick Facts

The following table presents Collin College’s fall 2007 retention and withdrawal rates broken out by several student background characteristics.

The retention rate is calculated by dividing the number of students enrolled on the last class day by the number of students enrolled on census day.

Likewise, the withdrawal rate, the flip side of the retention rate, is obtained by dividing the total number of students who withdrew by the total number enrolled on census day.

The retention rate was slightly higher for females than males. Retention was highest for students younger than 18 years of age, and lowest for the 23-29 year olds. Full-time students had a slightly higher retention rate compared to part-time students. Analysis by residency status of students indicated that out-of-country students had the highest retention rate.
