Collin College one of ten in nation to get ‘Encore Careers’ grant
Accountants, statisticians and engineers over the age of
50 looking at retirement or a re-career should know they can
make a big difference.
Collin College received a one-time, one-year MetLife
Foundation/Civic Ventures Community College Encore
Career Project grant.
The purpose of the grant is to create and market new ways
for individuals 50 years of age and older to transition into
“encore” careers in education, healthcare and social services —
all three are areas facing critical labor shortages.
Collin College is only one of 10 community colleges out
of 115 to receive the Civic Ventures grant. Specifically, Collin
College will work toward encouraging individuals to retrain
as math teachers.
