Collin College will host the 18th annual Power Leadership Breakfast at 7:45 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21, at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. The event is in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and will feature a panel discussion with local leaders nad Youth Forum. The event is free and open to the public.

Collin College is hosting its College Day/Night Transfer Fair from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the Spring Creek Campus Atrium, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. About 60 recruits from in and out of state colleges and universities will be on hand to talk to high school or community college students. Students, counselors, and/or parents will have the opportunity to receive information about admission requirements, academic programs, course transferability, financial aid, housing, student life and more. Collin College will host world-renown poet Billy Collins as its Scholar-in-Residence 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Collins is a two-time U.S. Poet Laureate and has published nine collections of his poetry over his career. The event is free and is open to the public. The Distinguished Speaker Series continues with Dr. Joan Fujimura, a professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she was founding director of the Robert F. and Jean E. Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 4. Dr. Fujimura will present "Epistemology in Action: Knowledge Production in Context."
